Suddenly, God Will Turn Things Around

Acts 16:25-26 says,

“And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the door were opened, and everyone’s bands were loosed.” (emphasis mine)

I want to talk about praise today.  In the midnight hour, which represents the darkest hour of the night, or the worst times of your life, what do you do? The Bible says to praise God.

When Paul and Silas were in prison and sang praises to God, it says that “suddenly, there was an earthquake.” Praise moves God, then God moves for you. The Bible goes on to say that the earthquake was so violent that the very foundations of the prison were shaken. When God moves, He shakes up whatever has held you captive. God will shake it to the foundation and bring you out of the prison.  He will turn your darkest night into your brightest day.  Praising God changes your circumstances and transforms the atmosphere.

If we were to read on, the scripture also says that the bands of all the prisoners were loosed.  Your praise not only affects you and sets you free, but it will also set those free who are around you.  This particular event not only freed all the prisoners, but when the jailer saw what God had done, he asked in verse 30, “What must I do to be saved?Verse 31 details their answer: “And they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and thy house.’

In your midnight hour, in the darkest, most painful times of your life- when you’re treated badly for doing right, when love is repaid with betrayal, when the wounds have cut deep into your soul- begin to praise God.  When you do, you can expect a “suddenly” and an “immediately” from God.  In a moment, at God’s divine time, He will turn things around for you and for those around you. Turn your prison into praise and see God’s presence and power show up in your life.

No prison can stop God from rescuing you when you praise Him. No problem is bigger than God. When you praise the Lord, you will receive a suddenly- a deliverance, a miracle, a breakthrough, your needs met, household salvation.  We are yet to see the fullness of what God will do for those who praise Him! So, what are you waiting for? Praise Him!
